About

“Hello! I’m Peggy-sensei!”

I am TANG PEGGY, also known as “Peggy Sensei” among my Japanese class students, and in the realms of social media, publications and magazine columns. My journey with language and communication started as a magazine comic artist, journalist and editor, branching out to roles as a translator and copywriter at a Japanese advertising company. Over a decade ago, I stepped out of conventional roles to pursue my passion, becoming a multi-faceted Japanese language enthusiast – or what is commonly called toady, a slasher – a professional Japanese language teacher, film translator and social media influencer.
I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with well-known Hong Kong media outlets such as AM730 and KKBOX. My film translation work includes notable titles like Hideaki Anno’s “Rebuild of Evangelion” series, Makoto Shinkai’s “Suzume no Tojimari,” Mamoru Hosoda’s “Mirai,” and “The Boy and the Beast.”
I’m also a certified SSI International Sake Sommelier, SSI Shochu Sommelier, and hold the SSI International Sake Master qualification.
Currently, I live in Osaka, Japan, where I continue to be on the lookout for the latest trends all around Japan, sharing first-hand experiences from living in Japan and up-to-date news in popular culture as teaching references.
